Elvas Industrial Zone, with about 170 hectares, was created in 1997, now houses a considerable number of small and medium-sized enterprises. Focused on receiving especially non-polluting industries, it offers a wide range of business activities and all the infrastructures necessary for its optimized development: piped water, electricity, sanitation, public lighting, paved roads, telephone connections, among others.
The Logistics Platform of Elvas / Caia is part of the Portugal logistic program and was created to extend the hinterland of the ports of Lisbon, Setúbal and Sines. Its objective is to improve Alentejo's economy, since it enables Portuguese and Spanish investment in the interior of Alentejo, and also stimulates the local industry by improving the distribution of its products in the markets.
